Betsi Cadwaladr University Health BoardWe are seeking a dynamic, proactive and enthusiastic Assistant Practitioner to work as part of our team on Bonney Ward at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. Bonney ward is a 27 bedded ward consisting of acute medical patients. The ward specialises in diabetes, endocrinology, haematology, oncology, Specialist Palliative Care and dermatology. We deal with admissions, transfers, acutely unwell patients, discharges and anything else that should arise during a patients stay. We serve a wide variety of patients with various medical conditions. We also deliver inpatient chemotherapy if this is required during their stay. Patients can arrive to the ward, or can become during their stay, acutely unwell therefore observational skills and expert knowledge are a key skill to working on this ward.. We also, should the need arise, deliver an out of hours triage service for chemotherapy patients linked with Shooting Star. This may sometimes involve speaking to our colleagues in Glan Clwyd.. You must possess excellent communication skills and be able to work as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team. . We are currently looking for an Assistant Practitioner who are ready for a new challenge, be part of developing a new service and be part of some significant changes.. The Assistant Practitioner role will also require the post holder to:. Ensure effective communication with patients, carers, multidisciplinary team and the wider health and social care community.. Practice in accordance with Health Board standards and statutory requirements and operate within the boundaries of the role and assessed competencies.. Use personal effectiveness and knowledge to contribute to the development and delivery of a quality service.. Work proactively as a member of the multi disciplinary and multi professional healthcare team, in support of registered practitioners.. Manage a small defined caseload of patients under the supervision of the registered nurse… Administer within scope of competence prescribed medication/medicinal products where designated according to BCUHB policy.. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply..
